Welcome To The Experience

How you doin' y'all, my name is Mike!

I'm actually doing this. I'm writing again! I figure the best way to start off is to introduce myself to anyone who may not know me or if you do know me, well you get to hear all this junk again. Trying to summarize myself and what I do is always hard so here I go.

I started this internet junk waaay back during my highschool days. I used to hang out in forums. Remember those? I'm old. 37 at the time of writing this to be exact. I've done a lot. I've run websites, had a stint on YouTube for a bit that never took off, learned how to video edit, explored and learned more about my passion for music editing, started streaming, took a break from streaming, came back to streaming, started moderating streams and discord servers, learned how all this tech for vtubing works, become the world's only fake vtuber, made so many friends over the years from the internet, and on and on and on.

I never thought vtubing would be so important to me. The amount of relationships I've formed because of it is crazy. Every single vtuber I meet, seems like we eventually get to chat and hit it off. Some have even become my closest friends. I get to hang with some of the coolest people in the world now and that means so much to me.

I also never thought moderating would be such an important thing to me. I started off kinda casually doing it, but then I got pretty good at it. I'm great at detecting "the problem ones" and before bots helped ease my job, I used to have a curated list of bots I would manually ban on twitch. I'm dedicated to keeping the places I mod safe and worry free. And now I moderate stuff for 10+ vtubers. I'm glad people trust me enough to put that kind of responsibility in my hands and I never abuse it. I wish I had more time to be at everyone's streams but I'm only one guy.

Music editing is really important to me. I can't compose my own songs to save my life, but when I was in highschool, I had access to what was at the time, advanced editing software. A teacher gave me a copy for free even because he saw I had a knack for editing audio. I was 15 at the time.

This led me down the path of learning remixing and then eventually making music mashups. I've edited so much stuff over the years and if you want to listen to it all, I do have a project that's currently ongoing and I have no idea when it will stop. I call it RE-Mass-TURD.

It's basically taking all my best edits I've done over the years and finding better quality sources to remaster them and make the quality better. Somehow during this, I also decided that making a few new remixes and mashups should get tossed in, and now it's a big thing for me. I will eventually finish it one day, but that's for a future Mike to get time to work on more and maybe get inspired for one more new idea.

One more thing about me is I used to love writing. I did it a lot back in the day. Blogging was a neat way for me to write stuff down and contextualize how I felt at the moment. My brain is so loaded in things to remember, sometimes I would just forget and it was nice to have a thing to look back on. I basically turned my social media, Twitter (yuck) and then moved over to Bluesky, as my mini blogs. Then I added Backloggd and Letterboxd to it. It's cool to have some websites be hyperfocused on one topic, but I do miss having a spot where I could dump all my thoughts about anything. So here we are.

What to expect from this place? Well, don't expect a post a day or something! I think I first want to start off rewriting my old Pocket Sakura post I made on another website before that place died an awful death and update it to have my current progress and goals.  Then I have no clue. You might see me talk about video games. Maybe a movie. Maybe how I stubbed my toe and how I feel a god has wronged me. Whatever I feel like really!

If you've read this far, hey, thanks for reading and clicking on the link I'm posting to Bluesky. You all are so fun over there and I'm happy I'vegot to chat with so many of you. And if nobody reads this thing, then that's fair as well. Who has time to read these days?

Here's to hoping I enjoy what I do here and having some dang fun writing again.

Mike out!
